Justin Harris

Justin Harris' illustrious musical career kicked off way back in 1987 when he was a regular DJ at the first pioneering Acid House events in the UK. He later went on to become one half of the pioneering DJ partnership North & South, who were infamous on the free party / DiY circuit throughout the UK.

Upon moving to London in the early 90's, Justin turned his technical dexterity to the studio and began making some of the most innovative and leftfield house music around. Eight years ago, he teamed up with Luke Solomon to create the groundbreaking Freaks project. Freaks have over 80 productions under their belt, including remixes for artists such as Kassabian, Soft Cell, The Human League, Derrick Carter, Greenskeepers, Tiefschwarz and Damon Albarn to name a few... and have themselves recorded for such esteemed labels as Perlon, Wally's Groove World, Classic, Playhouse and Silver Network. Freaks, over the last three years continued to concentrate their musical output on their own 'Music For Freaks' imprint and have released 15 EPs along with Three Albums - 'The Beat Diaries' , 'Meanwhile Back At The Disco' and the most recent 'Man Who Lived Underground'. All three albums were creative landmarks in house production, bending people's perceptions of how house music should sound. Freaks are in the process of completing their FOURTH album 'PSYCHE!' which will even further rewrite the rules.

Other highlights of Justin's musical career include further collaborations with Luke Solomon under the Robotic Movement, Oliloqui and Freesoul (also featuring Diesel) guises. The audio fruits of these partnerships found homes on seminal house labels such as Classic, Phono, 20/20 Vision, Large, Seasons and SSR. Justin has also recorded his own solo projects as himself or Philippe Maurice for Tom Bone, Classic, Sensory Productions, Swag and Tombone. He has also recently started a new label, Paranoid with Lil Mark (Classic) which is now on it's fifth release and is geting world-wide support from such Dj's as Chris Duckenfield, Mark Farina and Rob Mello (who he is also currently penning a release with - does this man ever SLEEP?). Fourthcoming are more releases for Tombone, Separe Records, Classic, Paranoid, Shaboom and many many more.

Justin has also compiled a live Ableton set of his solo projects to combine with his already impressive DJ skills... The trax you can hear on this website ( bottom left ) make up just some of the material for this set. (Contact us for more info).

Also about to be released is a solo album 'Me and My Computer Said' which Justin has recorded over the last two years which features a more downtempo and sound-scape-ish feel to it. This has been been gaining accolade on the underground...and he is currently negotiating with a number of labels to get this released.

Justin regularly DJ's at such venues as The End (Classic Record Parties), Planet K (Manchester), Fuse (Brussels), Rex (Paris), Batofar (Paris), Skanssen (Oslo), Lolita (Barcelona), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), WMF (Berlin) and has played at many other dates all over the world including exclusive nights in Paris, USA (Chicago, NYC, Sandiego, Seattle), Montreal, Toronto, Moscow, Lisbon, Milan, Tokyo, Lithuania, Georgia....Well the list just goes on.....

This summer Justin is going to be touring with his band Freaks around the world including dates in Zurich, Munich, Amsterdam and Roterdam to name a few - they are also playing live at this summers party-fest Global Gathering on july 29th...
