Rich Sutcliffe

Richard has always been interested in music, at 16 he bought his first pair of decks, which he used to mess about on. At the age of 18 he was seriously starting to get hooked on it all. He used to go to slinky in Bournemouth nearly every weekend for about a year. This is where he first got on to the underground scene.

After a few years of clubbing and understanding the music, plus a friend giving him cd's regularly from people like Digweed, Sasha, Fortier, Tyrant, Jon Marsh and Tyler Stadius, and going to different underground nights and events his own style began to form.

Now at the age of 22, still living in Southampton, England, Rich finally feels he has found his own sound. He's learnt its all about the bassline and has understood what the jack is all about. Rich's style is blend of deep, dubby house, bumpy jackin tech-house, cutting through acid & deep techno.

Richard is currently in the studio making underground music, along with John Barber under the name B.A.S.S, which stands for Barber And Sutcliffe Sound experiment. Richard has been workin on other projects to which have been getting good support, so keep an ear out for them

Rich was always clubbing and supporting local nights, giving out mix cds to these local nights, djs and mailing them off. Through this he got asked to play a local night called 'MOJO', and has played alongside Paolo Mojo, Phil Thompson, Steve Gerrard & has warmed up Pole Folder for his Bedrock album launch in Bournemouth at MOJO. Other recent appearances have included Tom Budden's night in Southampton, 'Short Circuit'. Rich also has a residency starting for John Barber's night, ELECTRIC PLAYGROUND at the newly opened 'Junk' in Southampton.

Richs influences for both production and djing, are Tyrant, Terry Francis, Nathan Coles, James Zabiela, Tyler Stadius, Brett Johnson, Jay Tripwire, Eddie Richards and Dj Buck to name a few. Nights like fabric, maison, club class, high tide, space, events like homelands and local nights have helped him understand what its all about.

2005 has already been an eventful year for him, and he's enjoying all the experiences and learning curves, both djing and in the industry, and all the like minded music loving people he's met. Rich hopes to be part of the underground scene and so he can push his sound.
